This looks like a horse trailer. I probably has not been used to transport horses for a while now, but it may be still in use, as a storage container, maybe a shelter for the horses on a cold night. I farmer had a field near the University of York. He ran a pony cart during tourist season. His ponies were well adopted to Yorkshire winter, but he had a wooden structure in the field for them to shelter in. He left hay out for them, and would periodically dump a load of carrots for them.
One winter, he left his mare and stallion in October and had a colt in the spring.
